  Aquaculture

The Aquaculture course will be will be held at the Marine and Aquaculture Research Facilities Unit at James Cook University and the Orpheus Island Research Station on the Great Barrier Reef. The subject focuses on aquaculture in tropical Australia and other tropical regions of the world. It will provide information about the status, production and sustainability of the major species cultured in tropical regions and the trends and opportunities for new species culture and biotechnology developments in the area. Field aspects include site visits to prawn and pearl oyster farms, and reef fish, redclaw, giant clam, mudcrab and sponge aquaculture research programs.
